Mullholland

Set into a hillside and framed by woodland, Mulholland is a contemporary home that feels both grounded and quietly expressive. Designed by architect Annabel Brown, the house unfolds through flowing curves, textured materials, and far-reaching views that shift with the changing light.
The clients — long-time admirers of Palm Springs modernism — had spent a holiday cycling through the neighbourhoods of Richard Neutra’s architecture, drawn to the elegance and clarity of his work. Though they’d always lived in period homes, this project marked a bold departure: a home inspired by mid-century Californian principles, reimagined for the English landscape. A photograph of the Kaufmann House now hangs proudly on their wall — a daily nod to the vision that shaped this home.
This series was photographed over two days, following the movement of light from crisp morning to golden dusk. My intention was to reflect not only the architecture, but the feeling of being held by the space — the atmosphere, the stillness, and the gentle rhythm that emerges when design, land, and light are in harmony.
